Situation - Our distributor was approached by an out of state private school to renovate a large room with an 18 ft. ceiling for multi-purpose use as a study hall, assembly hall, sports, and recreation space. The distributor called Crownlite for value-add solutions to present to his customer.

Challenge - The lighting system had to work with multiple tasks, each with very different visual needs and emphasis. Lighting levels, glare conditions, safety and energy costs/usage need to be considered. We need to give our distributor a system to present that would show the valuable resource he was to his customer.

Crownlite�s Process - Crownlite reviewed the floor plans and digital photos of the space. Computer layouts were done using several styles of fixtures to optimize the lighting. These where given to our distributor to submit for approval.

Solution / Result - Cownlite recommended multi lamp deep cell parabolic fixtures. This reduced ceiling brightness and provided high work surface light levels with minimal glare, for the study hall utilization. Heavy duty wire guards where added for sports and recreational use. Fixtures where made dimmable for auditorium use. A multi-phase electrical system was installed so fixtures could be switched in three groups, adding an energy saving step dimming element to the continuous dimming system. The customer had originally specified magnetic ballasts because the thought it would save money. Crownlite was recommend fully electronic ballasts to save owning and operating costs. This also represented an upsell for the distributor. The facility works extremely well with all three uses and has low owning and operating costs. Schools became a new market for this distributor, who has done three more based on the reputation they gained from this initial success.
